UFUSA Enterprise Agreement

As reported previously, the next meeting for the EA negotiations to continue is scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, 28 February 2020.

A joint Shop Stewards and State Council meeting has been scheduled for 17 March 2020 at the UFU Office for a full report on the progress of this matter together with consideration of a range of other issues. If you have issues you wish to have raised, please contact your local Shop Steward to discuss.

The UFUSA has received a document written by SAFECOM CEO Dominic Lane at the request of the Minister for Emergency Services which is being distributed to State Council and Shop Stewards for consideration in the development of the union’s response. The document will also be placed on our website as soon as possible and members are encouraged to read it and respond to any issues of concern to you.

Thank you to members who have provided information in relation to the activity involved in the recent bushfires; please don’t hesitate if you have a contribution to make. Please direct any information to info@ufusa.com.au as soon as possible.

Members have raised numerous issues in relation to problems with payslips and the matter is of course subject to the enterprise agreement negotiations.

In the meantime, a number of members have raised concerns in relation to the changing nature of their payslips. One member was advised by Shared Services that the documents are “live” and can change after the event. This matter is been taken up with the CEO of Shared Services and is being investigated.

Please let us know as soon as possible if you have been affected and all members are urged to regularly and as a matter of course check your payslips and keep good records.

A number of meetings have been held with management in relation to the concern regarding payment for KI deployments and we will keep you informed as to the outcomes.

PFAS – 3 March 2020

The Chief Officer Mr Morgan has advised the UFU of the re-occupation of Largs North Station as at 08:00 hours on 3 March 2020 following a satisfactory report by GHD on the Station and the Service meeting the agreed steps set out by the PFAS Consultative Committee.

Other stations affected by elevated levels of PFAS in the soil will be addressed under the ongoing plan and further works on the amenity of the station and monitoring of firefighters’ health and well-being and the station environment will also be ongoing.

The UFU State Council has resolved that the matter of the dispute in relation to the reduction of qualifications for the Senior BA Technician and the absence of any consultation involved, will be elevated to dispute. Your union has attempted to resolve the matter with management without result.

Members who have visited or called our union office in recent times would likely have met our UFUSA Office Manager Gail Gorman.

Gail came to work with us late last year with a wealth of experience of working in the union movement and across all areas of administration.

In order to modernise our record keeping into the current century, the UFUSA has purchased and installed a new database called Kudos and Gail’s expertise has meant that Kudos is running efficiently as we all progressively learn and utilise all its features with Gail’s assistance.

State Council is really pleased that members can be sure of a friendly and helpful response from Gail when you contact us, and I know you will join me in warmly welcoming Gail to our team.
