ENTERPRISE AGREEMENT REPORT BACK MEETING TODAY

UFUSA Event

As previously advised a meeting of UFUSA Shop Stewards and State Councillors to receive a report back on enterprise bargaining negotiations will take place today at 10:00 hours at the UFUSA office, 148 South Road Torrensville.

The meeting will also consider reports on the range of industrial disputes and issues of ongoing concern to members and provide feedback on membership views and the options available to achieve our objectives.

If your elected Station or workplace representative is not able to be present, you can consider an alternative participant to attend and if so, please advise us ASAP on 8352 7211.

If you do not currently have an elected union rep in your workplace, please discuss it and consider making a nomination. Meetings receive reports and information which may not be able to be published in Wordback, so it is important that as a member you continue to have a voice and receive feedback on vital discussions and determinations.

Our elected representatives go that extra mile to look after members, giving of their own time and often very difficult circumstances and usually without too many thanks or indeed expecting them. That might not sound hugely enticing but there is indeed a great satisfaction in working collectively and achieving great outcomes for members where they are sorely needed.

So please do think about joining us to progress the issues thereby helping to keep members safe, supporting and advocating for injured members and restoring firefighting to the satisfying and rewarding vocation you all know it can be.

BY-ELECTION FOR STATE COUNCIL

State Council was disappointed at the June meeting to receive confirmation of the resignation of Matt Vick from his position representing Firefighters on the Council. We thank Matt, a deep thinker and quiet achiever, for the diligent work he has performed on behalf members and wish him well.

Members may recall that State Council Trustee Chris Barry also resigned from his position earlier this year after many years of serving UFU members passionately, and faithfully. Again, this is a huge loss to our union and we continue to miss him greatly but we thank Gov for his unwavering support, kindness and good humour.

Accordingly, there are 2 vacancies on State Council which will now be subject to a by-election if there are more candidates than positions available.

State Council has appointed Paul Caica as Returning Officer to conduct the process and interested members who meet the requirements under our Rules, can nominate for a position in the decision-making body of our union.

Strength in Unity.

In solidarity,
