With the Marshall government attacking first us and then the ambos union on the floor of Parliament, the cracks are beginning to show.
State Council yesterday determined:
Campaign Industrial Actions
Commencing A shift Monday, 15 March 2021
➢ Public Holiday Routine as per MFS SAP 18 will apply.
In the interests of skill development, in-service courses will continue, as will booster tests.
➢ Opportunities to be in the public eye will continue, including truck checks on the front apron.
➢ Wearing of Union T-shirt continues
➢ Fire Alarm Reporting Continuation of restriction of codes in AIIRS Reports
➢ Allocation of overtime costs to a new cost centre (817) remains banned.
➢ Lift Act Up Ban The ban on acting up will again be lifted during this period.
The above will remain in place until reviewed by the next meeting of State Council on 8 April 2021.
State Council again called for the Chief Officer and Deputy Chief Officer to meet the UFU as a priority to discuss issues of concern.
In particular the issues in dispute in the SFQ process since 9 December 2020, require a responsible management to meet to discuss the path to resolution. Threats of disciplinary action against members are counter-productive and do not upskill a workforce. They will also be futile.
➢ Political Campaign – political campaigning and lobbying of Members of Parliament of all parties, including delegations of members continues.
➢ Public and Media Campaign – resolution to enable the voice of authorised firefighters to be heard.
➢ Firies and Ambos – Joint Rally Victoria Square Thursday, 1 April 2021 at noon. Prepare for 10 days of activities from 23 March, in the lead up to the rally.
ONLINE CAMPAIGN PETITION
A reminder to members of the online Safety and Resourcing Campaign petition in response to all those who wish to support firefighters and send a direct message to the Marshall government. You can access the UFUSA petition here, or on our Facebook page here.
The UFUSA is supporting ambos with the AEA petition in the Safe Staffing = Safe Community campaign and we are assisting in its hard copy distribution. Packs with reply paid envelopes are available from the UFU Office. Please let us know if you can help our Ambos by either spreading the petitions to workmates, family and friends or by letterboxing in your area.
